New Yukon Support Line Available for Survivors

 

For May, Sexual Violence Prevention Month, DWS will be posting more info about sexual violence, prevention, and consent.

The Sexualized Assault Response Team (SART) has created a Yukon-wide 24 hour support line for survivors of sexual violence and folks supporting survivors - 1-844-967-7275.

What Happens When You Call?

A trained support worker will listen, validate, let you know what options are available to survivors, and not judge you. Survivors get to choose what happens next after an assault.

More Services for Yukon Survivors

Survivors and supporters now have more choice on how to get support after an assault. Folks can choose to call DWS’ 24 hour support line (867.993.5086) or the SART support line.

How to Help a Friend

  • Be there to listen.

  • Reassure them that what happened is not their fault.

  • Thank them for telling you.

  • Accept that everyone responds to trauma differently.

  • Understand your own feelings and take care of yourself.

  • Discuss their options for accessing support with them.
