December 10th is International Human Rights Day, a day to commemorate the anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This document, signed by the United Nations General Assembly in Paris in 1948, outlines the rights of all human beings, all over the world. These essential rights are meant to guarantee safety, freedom, and joy for everyone.
And yet, these rights are being denied all over the world. Genocides are taking place right now in Sudan, Congo, and Palestine, where people are suffering extreme violence and hardship at the hands of their oppressors.
This December 10th, as we reaffirm the importance of human rights for all, join us in solidarity and action at Dënëkär Zho/KIAC Ballroom from 4 to 8 pm. We’ll have delicious, home cooked food available, plus second-hand clothing and books for sale. All funds raised will go directly towards organizations doing critical work on the ground in Sudan, Congo, and Gaza. This will be a cash only event.
Presented in partnership with Dawson Women’s Shelter and KIAC.
