Cyanotype Prints with DWS

  • Dawson Women's Shelter Dawson City Canada (map)

Cyanotype is one of the oldest photographic printing processes using iron salt solutions and ultraviolet light from the sun to expose various natural materials in white with a deep blue backdrop. This art is most often practiced on paper but for this workshop we’ll be using fabric. We will provide cotton and collected natural materials but feel free to bring your own items or cotton goodies to dye if there’s something you’re excited to try.

Who: All women (trans-inclusive), Two Spirit, non-binary, and gender expansive folks that want to learn new skills in a space that centres women’s experiences are very welcome to DWS’ summer workshops. Kids under thirteen years old are asked to come with an adult buddy.

Where: All workshops are planned to happen in DWS’ outdoor garden. Please plan and dress for some fun outdoor learning. We’ve got lots of sunscreen!

For the safety of the folks who use Dawson Women’s Shelter’s services, our location is confidential. For folks who already know DWS’ physical location – please keep this info confidential. For folks who don’t yet know DWS’ location – when you register, we’ll let you know where we are and directions to the shelter.

RSVP: Workshops are limited to 12 people. Please register for each workshop by calling 867.993.5086 or emailing hello@dawsonwomensshelter.com

Cost: We are pleased to offer these workshops for FREE, including all workshop materials!

Accessibility: DWS garden is outdoors, on uneven ground, with a limited number of low and folding chairs available. There is a small, inaccessible washroom available in the shelter, with three steps to access.

Please call or email if you have any additional accessibility needs, including learning differences, physical needs, allergies, or something else. We will do our very best to accommodate!
