IWD 2021: Choose to Challenge, Choose to Celebrate

Monday March 8th is International Women’s Day.

This year’s international IWD theme is #ChooseToChallenge. (Check back on the DWS blog for more info about the United Nation’s IWD theme as well as Canada’s IWD theme.)

From internationalwomensday.com:

A challenged world is an alert world. Individually, we're all responsible for our own thoughts and actions - all day, every day.

We can all choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate women's achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world.

Choose to Challenge and Choose to Celebrate

We’ve adapted the theme a bit at DWS and are encouraging folks to share what they are challenging and what they are celebrating this year on International Women’s Day.

You can participate by writing down and taking a pic (you in it is optional) of what you choose to challenge and/or celebrate and post it with the hashtag #IWD2021 and tag DWS (@dws_endviolence).

We made some templates (download the PDF here) if it helps.

Thinking of ideas can be hard… Here are some starting points:

I choose to challenge:

 I choose to celebrate:

  • my healing

  • ancestors who have fought for justice

  • my circle of support

  • all the amazing women that exist - intersex women, trans women, cis women, and more!
